Gear motors use AC or DC power sources.


In most cases, gear reducers are designed to increase available output torque without increasing motor power consumption while maintaining a compact size. The cost of torque doubling is a proportional decrease in output shaft speed and a decrease in overall efficiency.

Classification of gearbox reduction motors

Application of gearbox reduction motor


Gear motors are used for applications that require high output torque and low output shaft speed, especially in situations where space and available power are limited. Which industries are not suitable for using gear motors?


Due to the flexibility and widespread use of electric gear motors, it is actually easier to identify which applications do not use them. Any application that requires high shaft speed and relatively low torque will not be suitable for using gear motors. This includes most fan, pump, and scanning applications. In this case, the rotational speed of the motor shaft is the most important factor. Applications that require maximum efficiency, easy reversing, minimal sound, or highly precise speed or torque control will be more suitable for choosing a pure electric motor solution.
